Dr. Sharaf is a Professor of Plastic Surgery and Anatomy at Mayo Clinic. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in leading plastic surgery journals along with over 14 book chapters, and he lectures regularly at national and international meetings. In 2025, he was named a Visiting Professor for the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). From 2021 to 2026, Dr. Sharaf served as Practice Chair of Mayo Clinic's Center for Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery. He is Co-Director of the Oculofacial Plastic Clinic, a multidisciplinary practice dedicated to complex eyelid and orbital conditions, medical director of the plastic surgery inpatient unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Associate Director of the Precision Surgery Laboratory within the Neural Engineering Laboratory (NEPS). Dr. Sharaf has extensive surgical training. He completed his training in Dentistry at McGill University, Medicine at Harvard medical school, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by Plastic Surgery residency at Montefiore/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and a Microsurgery fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is double board-certified in Plastic Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery. His clinical practice focuses on facial aesthetic surgery and complex facial and oculoplastic surgery, and body contouring. His research interests include virtual surgical planning, 3D printing, artificial intelligence in plastic surgery, and facial anatomy and aging.
